Diploma in Pharmacy usually abbreviated as D.pharma. It is a discipline of medicine that deals with the science and technique of preparation of dispensing drugs. About the Course


Diploma in Pharmacy program is a 2 years Diploma certificate course. The course consists of two academic years and practical training session. On course completion (academic program and practical training), successful candidates will get Diploma certificate from the University/Institute. The course includes atleast 180 working days in besides 500 hours of practical training.

Admission Procedure


Generally the admission to the course could be direct admission or merit based admission process. Reputed and well established institutes follow merit based admission process. Under merit based process, marks scored by students in board examination are considered. Some institution also conducts entrance test for admissions.

Intermediate examination in Science with physics, chemistry, biology or Mathematics

The first year of the three-year degree course in Science,

Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination.

Career Growth and Prospect:


There is large number opportunity in the field of Pharmacy. After finishing the course, one gets knowledge about drug therapy, optimum use of drugs (depending upon the condition of the patient) and different types of drugs (their composition, manufacturing process and properties). Their major duties include- dispensing drugs, advice dosage, compounding, checking prescriptions, and directions to patients and checking and maintaining the drug store inventory (at hospitals, clinics or drug stores).

D.Pharma graduates can work in both government and private sectors. They may work at drug stores in Government hospitals, private hospitals, clinics, community health centers or private drug stores. One can also go for further studies (B Pharm, Pharm D, M.Pharm. etc).
